Four Injured in New York I-25 Pileup

Four people were injured in a six-car pileup on Interstate 95 in New Rochelle on Tuesday. The accident occurred just before 2:00 p.m.

The pileup started when three vans, traveling in the left lane, were involved in a minor accident near exit 16. The drivers got out and were standing on the side of the road when a fourth car, traveling at high speed, crashed into one of the parked vans.

Soon after, a fifth car crashed into the two other vans and got wedged between them. Then a sixth car collided with the rest when the driver was not able to brake in time.

The sixth car sustained the least damage, while the fourth car was totaled. Joseph Russo of Walden, who was pinned between two vans upon exiting his vehicle, was most seriously injured. Other injuries in the wreck ranged from a sprained wrist to a broken pelvis.

The six-car pileup left nearly all of northbound Interstate 95 shut down for over two hours, backing traffic up to the Bronx. Police were on hand to inspect the scene and supervise the cleanup.

We are glad that no one was critically injured in this multi-vehicle New York car accident, and we remind drivers to be constantly aware of their surroundings. You should be prepared at all times for traffic to slow or stop ahead of you.
