A four story residential building in Brooklyn, New York collapsed in the Fort Greene neighborhood. The accident injured at least four people, who suffered minor injuries.
According to a fire department spokesperson, the four injured people were given medical attention right after the collapse and only one person had to be taken to the Brooklyn Hospital for treatment.
It was confirmed by the fire department spokesperson that the owner of the building was cited in May following an inspection where several vertical cracks on an exterior wall were noted.
Residents living in adjacent buildings were forced to evacuate so that experts could determine if those buildings were safe.
The case involving this building collapse is supposed to be heard by the city’s Environmental Control Board, which handles citations issued by the buildings department.
