
A Brooklyn car accident kills a driver and injures five others after the minivan he was driving slams into a telephone pole. The incident took place at approximately 3:30 AM on Sunday morning, January 17, 2010, in East Flatbush.
According to police, a 32-year-old male, was behind the wheel of a 2002 Honda Odyssey that lost control and hit a telephone pole near the intersection of Tilden Avenue and Kings Highway. The force of the impact ejected the man out of the side window leaving him pinned underneath the minivan.
“The van was on top of the driver,” reported a witness. “They had to jack up the vehicle to get it off him.”
The unidentified driver was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a few minutes after arrival.
According to officials, there were five other passengers in the minivan at the time of the accident. Details concerning their injuries were not made available, however, their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators indicated that the victims had been at a local nightclub and had just left when the minivan hit the pole.
The fatal Brooklyn accident is still under investigation; however, investigators indicated that they do not intend to file any criminal charges.
