Philadelphia Flyers Forward Danny Briere and his nine-year-old son Cameron were involved in a car accident in New York state early Thursday, June 17. Both Briere and his son avoided serious injury in the accident.
A Range Rover driven by Briere collided with a tractor-trailer truck near Binghamton, New York just after midnight. Binghamton is just north of the New York/Pennsylvania line.
New York State Police spokesman Sgt. Steven Barlow said that Briere's Range Rover was passing the truck when it drifted into the right lane, and collided briefly with the truck. The truck jackknifed and rolled over, while Briere's car hit the opposite guard rail.
Briere suffered an unspecified arm injury in the accident, while his son Cameron complained of back pain afterward. They were both treated and released from a Binghamton hospital. The truck driver was not injured in the accident.
Briere was reported to have drifted into the right lane after becoming drowsy. There is no reason to suspect that alcohol or drugs played a part in the accident.
We are glad that no one was injured in this New York car accident, and remind everyone to stay alert when behind the wheel.
